Join us for this 8 day wildlife photography tour and adventure in Northern Greece where we will take in two magnificent locations spending a few days at each.. Lake Kerkini in the north near the Bulgarian border, and Prespa Lakes in the North West of the country bordering Albania and Northern Macedonia.

Both are incredibly important lakes and wetlands and both are breeding grounds to the iconic Dalmatian Pelicans. Both lakes are epicentres for migrating birds arriving from Africa in the spring to find their partners, nest and raise their young before heading back to over-winter again in Africa.

The tour will take the form of shooting from a boat, as we enter the Lake Kerkini delta to get close to nesting cormorants, herons, spoonbills and glossy ibis, 4×4 safaris around the lakes opportunistically stopping to photograph wildlife along the way and shooting from mobile hides which we set up for courting grebes, bee-eaters and the like.

Amongst many more species, the following birds will be on our hit list… Purple Herons, Squacco Herons, Black-crowned Night Herons, Little Bittern, White storks, Black storks, Penduline Tits, Bee-eaters, Hoopoes, Cuckoos, Grey-headed Woodpeckers, Black Woodpeckers, Golden Orioles, Red-backed Shrike, Woodchat Shrike, Little Owls, Eagle Owls, Bearded Reedlings, Mergansers and many more.

We also hope to see and photograph many insect species in our macro excursions including butterflies, moths, dragonflies, damselflies and a multitude of of different bugs from the massive to the miniscule… Hummingbird Hawk moths, Swallowtails, Scarce Chasers and Scarlet Darters, Zygaena Loti, Black Oil Beetles and trundling Dung Beetles to name but a few.

Reptiles & amphibians will include tortoises and turtles, tree frogs and toads, Green Lizards and Snakes.. Caspian Whipsnakes, Water Snakes, Dice Snakes, Adders, Glass Snakes & Horned Vipers.

Our mammal sightings should hopefully include: Coypu (Nutria), Golden Jackals, and Otters, and with some luck at Lake Prespa we might even see European Brown Bears & Eurasian Wildcats.
